Bhairab Kunda Trek is famous among the spiritual tourists, who want to visit the spiritual pilgrim site called Bhairab Kunda. The place is sacred pilgrimage sites for Shamans for both Hindus and Buddhists devotees. The site has yet been untouched.
The devotees visit this high sacred mountain lake to pay homage and take a bath especially in full moon of the August, because there is belief that if one takes bath in this holy lake one washes away all the sins that s/he committed throughout her/his life.
The Bhairab Kunda Trek starts from Jalbire. It takes around five-hour by bus, which you can directly catch from Kathmandu to reach at the Tibetan border. While we travel by bus we happen to see the scenes of beautiful mountains, the terraced fields and typical houses of rural villages of different ethnic groups residing alongside the road.
The trekking route goes along the old trade route that lies between Nepal and Tibet, especially through the numbers of Buddhist villages; therefore, we happen to pass many Chortens [Buddhist shrines/statues/monasteries] and houses of Sherpa people.
During your trek in the region, you experience the spectacular views of mountains of Tibet and the Jugal Himal section of the Himalayan Range, which includes the peaks of Dorje Lakpa (6966) and Madiya (6257M).
The trekking in the region can be done throughout the year and it also can be packaged with a rafting tour.
